| Closer view of previous specimen. The aneurysm wall
is made up of, from outside in, adventitia, an extremely
thin media subject to rupture, an atheromatous layer,
and layers of old unorganized thrombus formed with
progressive distension.
Friable atheromas lining lumen subject to embolization
to viscera and extremities, a complication seen with
increasing frequency with increasing life spans, and with
concomitant increasing severity of atherosclerosis with
age.
