Chronic Passive Congestion
Chronic Passive Congestion

The centrilobular area of a liver manifesting congestion.
In a normal liver, the sinusoids are narrow, slit-like spaces that are barely visible between the hepatocytes.
In this specimen, the large central empty looking space containing some red cells is the central vein.
The sinusoids between the surrounding liver cells are very dilated.
Many also contain red blood cells.
