•The epthelial nuclei are very regular and basally placed
•Only rare intraepithelial lymphocytes are normally seen
•The thin hyaline line on the epitheliall surface represents
the brush border of the absorptive cells
•The epithelium is primarily absorptive cells with only a few
goblet cells present
