This is a scanning view of a ureter cut in cross section.
The ureters are muscular tubular structures with a central lumen.
The muscular wall is layered into a inner longitudinal layer (IL), circular layer (C), and in the distal ureter the outer layer (OL).
The muscular wall is surrounded by loose fibrovascular connective tissue, the adventitia (A).
