Recent Infarct of Placenta (4X) • The arrows point to the perimeter of an infarct. • The maternal space is filled with blood admixed with fibrin. • The trophoblast is still preserved on some villi, one indicator that this is relatively recent. • The surrounding villi are separated by clear space which contained circulating maternal blood.
