High Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion on Pap Smear (High Power) • The cluster of cells in the center of the photograph is composed of abnormal squamous cells. • The nuclei are enlarged several times relative to the nuclei of the few normal intermediate and superficial squamous cells. • The nuclei are hyperchromatic and have an irregular contour. • Chromatin granules are difficult to see in this image but are large. • Cytoplasm is scant permitting the classification of high grade SIL.
