Ovary completely replaced by a cyst which has been opened.
Center is an area that resembles normal thyroid (arrow).
Thyroid component is rubbery and red brown.

proliferation of a meiotic germ cell,
Epidemiology

reproductive age women
General Gross Description

smooth external surface
cut surfaces will be meaty and red brown, resembling the thyroid gland
General Microscopic Description

follicles indistinguishable from normal thyroid
Clinical Correlation
reproductive age women with unilateral mass (10-15% bilateral)
generally incidental finding
may be functional
